i like to see the back wheel of a bike, to stop crap hitting the monoshock of my 650 i hung a 5inch wide flap of butil rubber down the side of the shock and down by the wheel bit like an internal mudflap, worked a treat, cost nowt and i get to see all the back wheel

I have one fitted. It keeps most of the crap off the rear shock, but could do with being a bit longer to be more effective. Worth fitting in my opinion, you never know when you are going to get caught out in the rain.
But it must be black!!! Matt |

I bought my bike second hand and it came with an Ermax undertray and a hugger. The rear brake lights, plate
![]() I am considering (for winter) just attatching a large thin piece of plastic onto the bottom of the plate to stop the brake lights getting hit. Whilst we're on the subject of add-ons, can you buy DL650 handguards online? I CBA going to the dealer.

Yes, keeps the crap off the rear shock which allegedly prolongs the shock's life (is there any proof to this?).
Also the NWS hugger on my CBR looks awesome, a fine piece of engineering too. |

Not so sure myself. Whether it looks better than an aftermarket chainguard is personal taste. But both look better than a standard bike looks.
Having a chain snap and annihilate the standard chainguard which has a steel support bracket - also totally chewed -made me realise how vulnerable your left leg is when you fit a hugger. Most dont have any strengthened support. Also the standard guard keeps road crap off the chain (and chaincrap off the wheel/tyre) more so than the combined chain/hugger design i fitted afterwards. Did i help. Thought not. ![]() |

Hugger = extra unsprung weight
Not sure I'd notice mind, but in the words of colin chapman there's no added lightness there. |
