Well after recommending PS3 mine has just developed the Yellow Light of Death for the second time!!

This is the third time I would've had an issue my PS3. My current one is actually a refurbed one, however my years warranty is up now.
Actually now I remember I had to write to the CEO of Sony to get another years warranty, they were refusing to give me anymore warranty upon accepting a totally different refurbed console.
So that would've given me just 2 months warranty on an essentially new and unfamiliar console.

This was after they had sent me back my console after needing a new blu-ray drive in a ****ty cardboard box without any padding. Got it home and it was YLOD. So new refurbed was offered without any compensation for losing all game save data, lack of proper packaging in the first place and having to get a new console without anymore warrantly!!

To be fair when I wrote to the CEO I demanded an apology, a new controller with the rumble thing and a full years warranty on the replacement console...a week later I got an envelope with all of the above so I was happy.

rider, before you say anything this doesn't mean xbox's are better!!

Yellow light of death.

Apparently as the CPU and GPU get so hot it manages to break/loose connections to the motherboard. Try to turn the thing on and it beeps at you and turns itself off again.

Might have a go at a repair on it. Basically have to take the whole thing apart and heat the connections up again. Worth a shot otherwise I am just guna give up on gaming...expensive and time consuming..not to mention the countless times I have had to become paramount to a slave to the wife before I am allowed some boy time to play the thing

YLOD is an easy fix make sure to replace the thermal compound too after you have heated them up with the heat gun with some sliver based stuff.

You could always grow a pair mate, own the tv then play whenever you like

OCZ freeze was the best last time i bought some paste, before that was artic silver.

Arctic silver 5 all the way for me, ive always used it on my heavily OC'd cpu's. Tho for this particular job id recommend the Arctic silver thermal epoxy. A little bit more permanent/stickier stuff but similar quality.

Half way through attempting the repair of my PS3..we shall see how it goes. Mad seeing your games console in loads of little pieces on the floor. Suprisingly modular too.
