Its a dangly bit (ooer) that fits to the lower section of the front fender that stops excess spray hitting the front cylinder and cooling and causing a miss fire (is that right Northy?) well thats what i thought.

Good, thought they looked fugly. Gonna gies some goop? Met a biker today who reckoned the new sv's now have a rubber plug over the bit where water got in and it shouldn't happen now? True? False?

I'd say you will benefit from fitting one - especially on a naked bike. It does more than just keep water away from the front plug. Uglier than a black fender extenda on a black bike is a hole pile of mud & grime stuck to the oil cooler, oil filter, front downpipe etc. They help to reduce the amount of that stuff delivered to your engine by the water that noone likes.

A bellypan would look real nice on that bike too.

Wasl looking at bellypans- found a Powerbronze one for £69, are they an ok make? Is it something I'd need to have specially fitted or is it easy enough to do yourself?

Shona this is just my opinion so everyone dont start barking at me

I had a black curvy from new until 5yr old, they were notorious for front cylinder mishaps so I fitted a fugly fender extenda and in the 5 yr that I had the bike I didnt have a single problem. The extenda was hardly noticeable on the black fender.

On the other hand Blue flame has a pointy and he had an off because the problem caught him out.

My advice get one fitted theyre cheap and easy to fit

Totally agree wi that sentiment.

Broke my wrist in four pieces and got a fracture on my vertebrae cos I did not buy a wee bit of plastic.

Tiger is right, but Indie is also right. And so is Blue Flame. Confusing, eh? But I just use the silicon goop, muck adds character. And in my case, limpets.
