Well, unfortuantley due to other peoples mistakes I didn't get the run I wanted, I left later and had to travel further on non-motorway roads. I also had to go a little quicker otherwise my day was getting silly long.
But driving sensibley not fast/slow and crusing between 75-90 I managed 171 and put 15.1 liters in the tank, so it would have done about 190? I reckon that 220 is achiveable if you are really careful, crusing about 65. Has anyone been further than this? 245 sound like really good going possibley sitting behind an artic for the whole trip |

Be aware that you can lose fuel if it's sitting out in the sun. I had that. On the reserve and then parked it before going on holiday for a week. Came back and managed 1 mile before it spluttered and died.

I ride 100 miles a day on my commute and I fill up EVERY day ... From when I fill up, to first warning light is approx 100 miles ... but then I ride it HARD down about 50 miles of motorway. Rest of the way is A-roads and can be very stop/start, plenty of overtaking (making progress) too. I reckon I could probably stretch it for a little bit further cos I always top it up as soon as the warning light comes on (which takes anywhere between £10 - 13, depending on how the journey has been).

I ran out at 195 miles a few months back 300 yards from petrol station. It was a calculated risk based on my estimated mpg over that tank full and when the fuel light came on. I thought I was good for 200 miles but alas stopped just short. Fortunately I didn't have far to push the bike. I wasn't riding particularly slowly either, just economically. Changing gear between 6-7k rpm sitting at 6.5k rpm ish in top gear. Engines are at there most economic at constant speed so the less acceleration/deceleration the better. Of course there is an optimum engine speed for greatest economy in top gear, not sure what that would be on the sv tho. I think on a run at the standard 56mph the sv would get well over 200 miles from a tank full but what fun would that be?

I did 211 miles on my last tankful commuting from Leeds to Manchester and back again on the M62 at between 60 and 70 mph. When I filled it up it took 14.7 litres. The bike is 6 months old with 2000 miles on the clock. I'm sure I can easily get 230 miles out of a tankful, which is important in these days of pound a litre fuel.
