SV is an easy bike to learn mechanics on I have done LOADS .. and knew little at the start a Haynes and some time and patience I have changed the brakes pads-throttle clutch cables. brake oil. tyres. chain, serviced - new indis new mirrors, all electrics, new tail tidy etc etc- my lil SV has given me fun and confidence but .. BUT if you dont feel confident get a pro.. its your life at the end of the day .. re brakes and cables etc I however- always was quite handy- I live local.. can't get handier than that !! ![]() |

Get gearbox oil for trucks, and put it all over your brakes

I had no idea at all what I was doing til my 125 kept breaking down and I had to fix it... The first time I'd seen a wheel bearing, or head bearing, or camshaft, or carb, was when I started taking the SV to bits. Now I still have a lot to learn but I could probably take my SV down to its individual parts and put it back together, and have it still work... I might even have some spares left over
![]() ![]() OK. But apart from the prospect of accidentally killing yourself, what's the worst that could happen?
