As an aside.. anyone know how to clean up some of the exposed metal parts that seem to 'fur' up. I am talking about the cheeky little clip that attaches the brake line to the swing arm, some parts of the brake level/gear level and some of the nuts and bolts around the fork area. Obviously it isn't rust as they are aluminum but its like an oxidisation.. Bueller Bueller....

I don't think you can clean a bike in one day. Quick wash, yes. But for a "propa" wash I do engine one day (takes few hours to clean all those hidden places and pipes), brakes, chain and sprockets another day and use day three to clean body work and polish it all. That's the ideal world. Normally just hose it down after every ride and apply FS 365.

.....and for added bling new-ness, get some silicone spray for your black plastics, ie mudguard/tickers/fairing inlays/switchgear (but not yer seat!) and good for hoses. Spray on and leave or wipe off.
![]() The best bit after drowning your pride and joy with all these chemicals is....... Starting it. Ahhhhhh, just for the smell of it! ![]() ![]() Pencil, Gunk is the daddy. Go for the screwtop can instead of the spray. More effective. Paint on with a brush, leave and wash off. Its a degreaser. Smells great so must be good? ![]() |

Generally, rainy days for the top half, puddles for the bottom half.
Specifically, sides of tank are cleaned with my bike trousers. Mirrors and headlights get a wipe from a gloved hand. If I need to clean the top of the tank, I go for a quick motorway blast - sitting back in the seat and tucking down means my boobs (or rather, the jacket over the top of them) wipes the muck off. ![]() Jo |
