I made the foolish error of buying the missus a bottle of Tia Maria when she'd said "Don't get me anything..." the other day.

Upon seeing it she said "Is that alcohol? Why did you by me a present...?" whilst glaring at me in a somewhat miffed and steely manner.

My reply was a stony faced nod and shrug of the shoulders as I had no words suitable or constructive enough to produce a satisfactory answer. So after I put the kids to bed, I stayed upstairs, did some ironing, watched some telly, surfed t'internet and revised for my Prince2 exam.

I'm still getting 'the silent treatment'.

Sometimes I want to just f*** off outa here...because this is just boll*x.

i dont understand what she was so upset about

is she older than you substantially and you buying her a present reminded her of the age difference (her being a cradle snatcher)

or she doesnt like alcohol

or have you done something else and this was just the excuse she needed to stop speaking to you?

Well I was kind of dodging Mothers Day this year (like most) as I hate the "Greetings Cards Manufacturers" Days.

Did phone my mum tho - she was busy and never phoned back

Still I am seeing her on Thursday as she and Dad are coming down to visit for the weekend.

No - not older - just the wrong week - the one before the other one...

Tell her to stop being an ungratefull moo and to be thankfull that she has a husband that at least considers her instead of just ignoring it. Would she prefer a husband that doesn't care?

Mum came over on Saturday night so me and mrs.H cooked for her and she took home the plant/flower type thing we bought along with a card.

I took the kids out to get my wife something on Saturday as they had already made cards, poems and paper flowers at school and nursery.

My 7 year old chose the most expensive cosmetics package ever - Clinique!!!!

My 3 year old insisted on buying mummy an easter egg?!? At least she was aware it was his choice (wait a minute will she think I was being cheap?)

They made her breakfast in bed.

Then I went out for a 15 mile run and came back to an atmosphere...........nice.
