It doesn't seem to matter what I do on the RGV - A/B road thrashing? 80 miles to reserve. Motorway cruising? 80 miles to reserve.

Love it.

Honda's usual trick for fuelling is to run it so rich it stalls, then lean it off a tiny bit.

Yep, I'd agree with that. Actually what I'd go for first is to abolish VAT on fuel in favour of a flat tax (and abolish road tax also in favour of fuel tax, making an instant, simple pay-per-mile system- this would be fairer and should be far simpler, no more SORN, no more tax discs, just pay for the fuel- and it'd also more effectively reward efficient cars). VAT is the part that just strikes me as unfair, it's not a huge difference but when fuel prices go up we get hit twice.

Personally though I wouldn't expect a significant tax cut, the money would just come off somewhere else or have to be cut from somewhere, and fuel tax makes a lot of tax revenue... But fairer tax, that should be doable.

Sound like a great idea, the savings of administration on not checking tax disks would be probably be millions alone. I reckon a cut in fuel duty could be balanced against a toll for foreign vehicles to use our roads, that could be done at the posts on entry and exit. It seems a bit unfair that foreign truck firms can do business in england without paying for any road tax of fuel (providing there tank range is large enough)

Would be a much cheaper system to implement than the inevitable gps systems as well and could be tax more highly in city's than the country/ offset the cost with rebates for rural users

I still think that Road Tax should exist in some way just to be an annual check on ownership.

But make it a simple amount £20 to cover the admin.

Make this the same fee for a foreigner coming in their car too.
