Disagree. I'm an Apple user because I've got 20 years Unix experience and OS X is simply the best desktop Unix (& IMO best desktop OS) out there. I used Linux for years before switching to Mac and, for desktop use, the Mac beats Linux hands down. I'm not biased here. I love Linux and I'm an embedded Linux developer. It's just that Apple stuff works a whole lot better and is far less frustrating to use than anything else.

I'll repeat that last point as it's so important to me - 'far less frustrating to use'. My O2 XDA Orbit (HTC Artemis) with Windows Mobile can be extremely frustration. It's nearly very very good indeed, but there are so many niggling things wrong that it's often a total pain in the backside.

I wouldn't buy an Air, but I can understand why people would. Just because a product doesn't appeal to you, doesn't make it rubbish.

I never intended to become an Apple convert. I bought an iMac for Mrs Wyrdness to use, as she complained about my homebrew PCs. I had my own linux box (a huge tower system), stuffed full of disks. However, I found myself using the Mac all of the time, rather than the Linux box and eventually switched completely. I still ssh to one of my Macs and use Pine on it to read my email!

You've obviously not played with the free developer tools

The huge majority of people need a computer they can't break. I've no idea how my mother can consistently mess up her registry, lose programs/files....I reckon if she was left alone on the net she could wipe the bugger!

Apple hide the unecessary tools so you're left with what you need. IF you require to see something in more depth; it is there, just not on the main menu.

Microsoft by comparison need to do everything by bloody wizards:

I was under the impression that Macs where Linux based not unix based.

Oh and 600+, I need 32gb minimum for movies and music. As for the camera, i understand waht you are saying, but this is meant to be the phone to beat all phones, yet it comes out with a 2mp camera, not even a 3.2 which is possible. 5mp would be better. As for the MB, i meant Gb.

Yes I'm temped but £250 for the PAY AS GO might be a little steep.

If I can buy one without the contract for £100, use some unlock wizard then stick my vodafone sim in it that is paid for by work then I would have one now.
