Apparently so, but to be honest once the gazeebo and wind break left (sarah and Saeed) it would have been pretty poo sticking about, plus we couldn't have a fire (on pain of death and torture, courtest of the new forst fire rangers). i had much more fun binge drinking at home where I had a nice floor to pass out on

Ride down was wet wet wet.
Set up tent in the wet wet wet. Rain stopped. Gazebo erected. Chips ate. BBQ lit. Sausages cooked. Beer drunk. Got drunk. Fun had. Sleep achieved. Headache achieved. More sleep achieved. Headache gone. Rain started. Rain stopped. Packed up. Went home. Rain started. Next. |

Ah well. Not too sorry I missed this one now. I hate camping in the wet, no fun at all. Good you made the most of it though.

Bummer, maybe earlier in the year might be better.
Any reason you chose the New Forest area? Good roads? Been before? |

With the seasons as they are at the moment (and looking to only get worse) it is always going to be a hit or miss affair.
At the end of the day, I thought it was quite funny getting soaked all the way through to the skin when I had perfectly good waterproof gear I could have put on. Yes I got soaked, but I wasn't cold and enjoyed the trip. I also thought it was funny that after we set up the tents and the gazebo, THEN it decided to stop raining. We had a good laugh (well I did), and it didn't rain for the whole evening and night. We got burgled during the night but all that was lost was some sausages. The decision to leave early was only because of the predicted weather and the fact we had no overhead cover should it have got bad. We had planned for it with two huge tarps, just we didn't plan on not being allowed to tie them to the trees (or even a steel fence ![]() I enjoyed it. Yes the weather could have been better which most definitely would have made the whole experience so much more enjoyable, but I'd do it again for sure. |
