Internal repair is the best permanent repair, where abouts on the tyre is the hole?

Lots of life left in the tyre, I'd only done 800 miles or so on it before mint green corsa girl tried to kill me...maybe 1000 miles at the very most.

The nail is stuck in half way between the centre of the tyre tread and the edge of the tyre tread on the left hand side. Side wall is fine.

I'll phone round a few local bike garages in the morning, see if I can find somebody to do it. What's a typical cost for a garage to plug a tyre?

£20 at the maximum, this would be to remove the tyre and repair it followed by refitting and re-balancing.

Sounds much cheaper than a new tyre.

Thanks for the info!

I patch 'em myself but you've got to be able to dismount the tyres to do it with proper mushroom plugs. Not that there's neccesarily anything wrong with the string ones, they very rarely fail and even if they do the worst that happens is you get the same puncture you had before But still, the internal mushroom plugs basically don't fail if fitted right, because they're held in by air pressure not by glue or friction. It's worth it for peace of mind, for me, once they're in I just forget about them entirely tbh.
