Yeah, if I had to buy my own every renewal time it would cost a fortune, and be a right PITA 'cos I'd have to go up to asdas...

No you don't. Have you not read my first post. I shall clarify. You take out a seperate insurance policy through your insurer. Mine was £50 for the year. If I need to make a claim for my gear the excess is £50. I can make any amount of claims in that period(within reason of course) paying an excess of £50. It does not in any way affect my bike insurance no claims....as it is a SEPERATE insurance policy
