basic battery top up water from halfords will do, any antifreeze, mixed 50/50 will do, you'll spend almost 5 or 6 new engilsh pound, change every year, choose the colour you want (I chose pink).

ratio mix can be adjusted to suit the conditions, so live in the Sahara, you'd only need the rust inhibiter junction really, live in the arctic and they run an 80/20 mix (and have jacket heaters fitted as well), haven't seen an antifreeze (from car shops) that wouldn't work.

for a cost of about 75p a liter, I've always use battery topup water and never tap (not only limescale, but rust problems can be encountered).

Cheers Mark.

Just out of interest would the chlorine in the tap water do any damage or is it such a small amount it's not going to make any difference?

Baz,
Chlorine reduces the effect of the corrosion inhibitors in the antifreeze, however as you say the amounts are small. I've never had any problems, but if it makes you more comfortable then distilled water isn't expensive.

teriyakimonkey,
If you weren't overheating and you are sure there are no leaks then your radiator cap is probably shot. If it is opening too soon then you will lose coolant through the overflow.
