I would have agreed with the paddock stand for chain maintenance, until I realised that you can just lift the bike slightly with the grabrail and pull the rear wheel round by the rim or one of the spokes. Done this on loose cobbles, tarmac, concrete, admittedly it might be risky on a hill, but so is a paddock stand.

Hence I hardly use my paddock stand now. And I never ever wheel the bike around to lube the chain.

Heated grips, just got home from my sisters (45 mins on the M40) having been over there during the day in the lightest of summer gear!! Only my hands and fingers have survived to type this, the rest of me still needs defrosting!
