Just remember DONT BUY THE FIRST THING YOU SEE look at loads compare what is cheep and what is good value not the same thing and dont buy just on someone elses recomendation what suits one may not suit another
and with insurance dont tell lies just to get the price down an invalid insurance policy is no good if you need to claim for something serious.

I agree but was talking new, obviously good quality 2nd hand leathers or textiles are better than cheap ones.
Personally the textiles i bought were not cheap nasty ones and after owning them for 6+ months i still think they were a good choice.

None and i hope it stays that way.
But you'll never know about any gear cheap or expensive, textile or leather, new or 2nd hand until its needed in a off. so the next thing surely is how you live with the stuff, ie comfort, wear and tear, looks, waterproofness (???) etc etc
I can only comment on my very limited experience with gear so more experienced riders will probably have more detailed history with different materials, brands etc which would benefit forum users more than my opinions, but its just that, my opinion.

Can't comment on HG texties, but I've had their psx 2 piece leather suit for just short of 18 months and they showed a 20-25mph lowside the door. No injuries & basically no damage to the leathers.

Curvys: 1999 - 2002, carburettors
Pointys: 2003 - current, EFi
Nakeds: produced in curvy & pointy form but with no fairing & different clocks

Very few differences between them apart from pointys slightly different cams and an extra tooth on one of the sprockets (if I am in anyway wrong, someone please correct me)...

Pointys are the best.

Yes the pointy had slightly hotter cams.

The naked bikes have an extra tooth on the rear sprocket and an extra 2 links in the chain to suit.

Generally speaking they go off list price rather than your quoted price to stop people doing this, so it may just be ramping up your premium without good reason unfortunately!

Welcome Ryan, you picked a good first bike and forum, you must have a good advisor!

Well guys and gals of the org, it's been a while since I updated this thread. Since I created this thread I've done my CBT, passed my theory test and passed module 1 of the new motorcycle test. I've got module 2 at the end of the week .

What I'm wanting to ask is; a friend of a friend is selling an X-reg SV Naked and I'm really interested in it. It has no tax / mot because it has been unused for almost a year I think but is in sound mechanical condition. (It's owner failed his test and never put in for a re-test so lost interest)

The only things it needs are a new gear shift lever and a new rear caliper. How much will I be looking at for these two things and where can I source them from?

Thanks, Ryan.
