Sounds like City of London Police only as well.

I used to get bloody frustrated by some of them too. Not cos they simply jump the lights but the agressive manner some of them do it in and without concern for anyone crossing.

i did once make sure that cyclist that i'd seen behave that way at the last set of lights was sticking close to the kerb....so i stayed there while the lights were red and made him stop as there was no room to pass me.

he however kept up his behaviour at the next few lights right up to Baker st where i had to have a word with the lycra clad warrior. And not a nice polite word either and made it very clear to him that i was happy to get off my bike and knock 7 shades out of him if he didn't pack it in.

I used to ride a bike in london for a long time and regularly jumped red lights if truth be told, i'm no angel and never claim to have been, but i sure as hell didn't have this agressive nasty attitue that a lot of cyclist show now days. Personally i dont have much of a problem with then jumping lights if its done safely and curteously to other road users.

Had 2 rude boys on bikes blatantly jump the lights and go across my path just as i was puling off. And being rude bos and well 'ard of course they didnt exatly feel any need to rush or be out the way for the other traffic...till they heard and saw the speed i was bearing down on them at

One of them, being so 'ard decided he'd shout some abuse at me and give me the finger. Funny cos when i stopped and turned around to look at them they decided the road was no longer where they wanted to be so they jumped onto the pavement and into Regents Park...even tho thats the way they'd just come

Whoops I had better be careful, although if this is right in the centre I am probably OK. I go into cycle boxes all the time, I sometimes cross the line too, so I am ahead of any cars (i.e. not jumping the junction but *technically* jumping the light).

Why not just keep going?

Cos I'd be jumping the junction lol!! Getting caught aside, I don't care about an arbitrary line on the road, I care about not riding into traffic, etc. If the line's a good few metres back from the junction I'll not have a problem with slipping my front wheel (and sometimes rear too) over it so I'm in front. Although if there is room for me to stay to the side of the lead vehicle, and simply accelerate past on green, I'll do that (due to the aforementioned care about getting caught).

I do what Muffles does too. I'm far more concerned about my saftey than the half asleep numpteis on their phones in their cages and will happily ignore a line or 2 if my safety is at stake.

Also its only worng if the light was red and you went past the line into the box, however if you were already in that box and the lights changed and you had to stay there then you commited no offence

Before I got me bike licence, I use to get around town on a 50cc 4 stroke Piaggio hairdryer. Gutless is a vast understatement

Anyway, I pulled into a cycle box on my trusty steed (2-up as well ), where some Italian guy on pushbike went ape **** at me for being in his box. I kept quiet and as soon as the lights went green, thought I'd leave him in a wake of dust, only after about 10 metres he caught up, overtook me, flipped the bird and fecked off - on a frickin pushbike!!!!

I didn't own the road that day
