Curvys snap cranks, camchain tensioners cause engines to lunch themselves.
Engines can fail, you've really just got to live with the fact. Like I say, it is rare.

Wow, nasty and glad it didn't cause an off.

Totally agree with taking the hard line with salvage yards. If you have any near you, don't phone them again. Go in person with £300 in your wallet and tell them that that is all you are willing to pay as they are just not selling at the higher prices. The prospect of £300 cash over having something taking up space with no guarantee of selling usually means you can get the deal.

Good luck!

If all the breakers want £500 plus for an engine where is the message coming from that £300 is the going rate..... Surely what they are worth is what someone will pay, like you said you want an engine in a hurry, expect to pay the premium. I blew the engine on my GSXR last month, next day bought on engine on Ebay for £700, had it fitted within the week and made the next trackday 2 days later..... If I was still shopping around for a "cheap" engine I'd have missed the last two track days and sometimes things are just worth paying for.......

Will buy a 04 ninja B1H if i cant get an engine by Tuesday/Wednesday.

I need a bike badly.

This way i can sit tight and wait for a reasonably priced engine and sell this SV on.

That's what they go for on eBay and on here most of the time.
