Sorry to hear that you failed your test, as others have said, get yourself booked in again ASAP!
Nope, it's an advised maximum speed, not a speed limit. Without knowing the road in question, it's possible that although slowing down was the correct thing to do for the immediate bend, speed wasn't regained afterwards? |

I heard that you can legally ignore the temporary limit such as "Sharp corner max 40" and carry on at NSL if it's a NSL road BUT if you then have an accident, you will be prosecuted as if the Limit was 40 and you were doing NSL?
IE: it's advisory but if you ignore the advice and mess up you'll be punished accordingly? |

That's ridiculous!! if the advisory was 40 then I don't see how he can fail you! I would definately complain!

yeah, try to contact with company, where this examiner was from and explain this situation....You can get next free attempt :P I've done my test last year in december, when was cold and rainy (the road was white on a side) and because I didn't ride around 60mph on dual carriage way examiner failed me, too.
And now I came back from Europe trip and Im finding myself as a good rider (Ive done 3000miles with my brother on pillion seat and 5 bags heheh) |

iirc an advisory lasts for that corner or strech of road ie road work cones finish advisory fishishes so dirctly after said corner you should revert back to the higher speed for the road eg if its 60 50 is acceptable not still 40 then thats not making progress but i do tend to agree it was harsh, also did he ask you about it after the test eg that bit when i told you it was a 60 why were you doing 40 or did you not know, or did you say when you told me it was a 60 limit there was an advisory for 40 and add on the weather conditions i thought it safer to continue at that sort of speed. that last bit may have changed your outcome so its one to remember for next time

sorry to hear mate, it took me 3 times to do my test ( the one before this module borrocks ), The first time i completely understood why i failed, i was doing 40 in a 30 whoops lol. The 2nd time i had a different examiner and i failed due to being cut up on a roundabout and had to brake, he saw this a very dangerous and failed me for it, I then said to the examiner that not letting a car side swipe was dangerous, and if i let him i would of passed my test, he had no comment. my comment to him was to take his head out his arriss. the third time i had the same examiner from the first test and he reconised me, we set off and it was the same route as the first time ( sweeeeet ). I passed with 2 minors.
If at first you dont succeed, try and try and try and try and try.................. |

Harsh as others have said, sorry to hear this. I guess you could appeal since the advisory sign said 40mph and you dont have to ride at the speed limit posted. Only if you are keeping traffic behind you are you relly going too slow for the road imho.
Gutted for you.

Aww Magnum...
Better luck next time. It does seem a tad unfair. Surely though for him to say it's a 60 you might have been riding slower for a wee while? Get back out there and get it re-booked, I know how gutting it is to fail. I failed first time for erm... something. lol. Dont even remember. You'll do better next time. ![]() X |

Gutted for you. You need to bring it up and find out where you stand incase you are in the same position next time.
You have to make progress in the areas you can according to the speed limit but I'd have done the same as you the extra sign is there for a reason if its of no use then it needs removing asap Good luck for next time round |
