How tight? Is it like a whole half the chain is a little tighter, or just one link which is stiff?

Not sure Yorkie, The I'd say its got a couple of tightspots, for example, If i checked it now, the chain will be tight, if i push it forward a foot or two, its ok, push it forward a little more, its tight again, but it was fine on the paddock stand and on its own wieght after the stand had been taken away.

Its tightest at about 10mm maybe upto 15mm at the loosest about 25mm-30mm

worried if i loosen it according to the tight spot, the rest of it will be too loose

Loosen it so the tight spot is not too tight.

A slightly slack chain is fine, a little bit more drive-lash. An overly tight chain is dangerous.

ok, looked at the thing again today, tightspot is still there.

Loosened the axle bolt and torque arm nuts. wound the adjusters back a little but they seem to be at the point that the caps on the end of the swing arm (on both sides) are about to drop off if i wind them back anymore to give it some slack. Can i confirm to loosen the chain i should be turning the adjusters the left as looking from the back of the bike?

Yes to loosen the chain you need to back them off anticlockwise an equal amount each side.

Cop the back of the bike and give the back tyre a good smack with your knee to ensure it is as far forward as the adjusters will allow.

thanks mate, its dark now though so will just have to ride it to work in the AM and see how it goes. Will have another look tomorrow

I'm v tempted to just take it in to the Mbike shop in town and get them to service it and adjust it and start afresh!
