To prevent misting I have some sort of membrane applied to the inside of my visor. Basically looks like a large, clear sticker which covers 90% of the inside of the visor. The guy in the shop put it in when I bought it and I'm afraid I don't know what it's called. It works perfectly - I can breathe out as hard as possible with everything closed and I don't notice the tiniest bit of misting.

I might buy some of that Turtle Wax stuff from Halfords for the outside then, if it seems to be working for others. At the moment I just use 'Shift-it' helmet and visor cleaner, rub it in and then buff it. Makes water bead a bit but doesn't do a great deal.

I've found the easiest way to clear water from my visor is to tilt my head to a certain angle (usually down slightly) while leaning forward over the screen and doing at least 50mph!

Is it a pinlock visor?

Don't know. What is one of those and how do I check?

All I know is I tried a bunch of helmets on, liked the Shoei one, and I bought it. The chap fitted this clear film to the inside of the visor (free of charge) and it never mists up.

Er, having done a bit of research on t'interweb it seems I do have a pinlock visor. Seems I didn't pay that much attention when he fitted it - guess I was more excited about the bike.

I have recently been using Clarity Defogit, which I first read about in a Webbikeworld.com review. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/clarity-defog-it/

In the past I have always used fogcity / pinlock as the only reliable de-mist product, but I have been so impressed with Defogit that I think it is the better product as it gives a clean visor, 100% coverage, and is residue free.

I have had a clear visor, and no fogging when on the move, sitting at lights, or walking between hot and cold climates with the visor kept closed throughout a journey.

I applied it to the outside of the visor and in light showers rain beaded up and rolled off, with no fogging on the inside, I have not experienced heavy rain yet.

The only place in the UK I could find it is http://www.sunglassesforsport.com/st...&categoryId=85 and if you use voucher code 'metro' at the checkout you should get 10% off.

if it's good in light rain, should be fine in heavy.

I've avoided using much on the outside of the visor at the moment-there's too much salt around at the moment- I'd have to reapply for every journey, instead of every few days...

I use a "majic" product called Grease Lightening now called Showroom Shine. Primarily it is a cleaner/polish for vehicles used to be only (so they say) available to the trade, NO NEED to remove or wash first, use straight out of the spray container. Contains Carnuba wax, excellent for dispelling water droplets, great on glass/paintwork/plastic's/helmets/visors, my best results have been on the tin tent (caravan) in particular the polycarbonate windows inside where you tend to get a lot of condensation. Also when you have a treated surface it is very easy to clean off tar spots damaged insects etc. Normally listed on the No22 shopping channel approx £20 litre goes a long way.
Spectacle wearers will know how easily lenses fog up, a little of this applied, hence the "majic", have a spare pair that I use specifically with the bike.

Thanks for the report. I'll give it a go. It's £3.56 inc postage at the above link if you use the code.
