I don't like chancing it.

I carry a leatherman tool when I'm on the bicycle, as it's obvious I have a use for it there, and the blade is <3". The rest of the time no.

There is the other arguement that says you can't get the blade out of a leatherman quickly so it'd be bloody useless as a defensive weapon.

I've also got a couple of lock knives with thumb-stud opening on them. I wouldn't even consider them for carrying in public unless I was off shooting somewhere, then I'd probably put it in my game bag and have my permission papers for the land to hand too.

I reckon it would have a lot to do with circumstances, if you're in a park or something, that'd be OK, if you were swinging it about in the high street, it might be a different kettle of fish!

Depends a lot on the cop too. Most have a nose for bad intentions.

.
You are not trying hard enough, i can open the knife on my leatherman wave one handed very quickly. However, i have been using it for the past ~8years

I keep it in my bag, which i take to and from work in my car. The reason for this is I have to vist computer datacenters often and use it for cutting cable ties, opening boxes, using the screwdrivers and plyers on it too. Great tool, it's a shame I can't carry it on my belt clip anymore, otherwise it would get a lot more use.

I have a large machete in my kitchen cupboard that I use for slicing pineapples and hacking back my over grown garden shrubs. I keep a big Swiss Army knife in my handbag as it contains all those girly essentials of tweezers for stray eyebrows, a nail file and a corkscrew. And I have a full up 22 slot knife rack in the kitchen as I'm a keen cook. Owning these items does not turn me into a crazy knife wielding madwoman intent on killing those around me. That is called PMT.

I always carry my leatherman with me.
Its there when I'm surveying work, out with the cadets or on the bike.
Its in a leather case on the right side of my belt.

And as said before, yourkie chris, if you cant open them quickly, your not trying hard enough. lol

I've got a leatherman wave and can open either of the bigger blades with just my thumb.

ok people this is the info i have been given by plod when they were in my mates and his massive knife collection
in your home if it is obvious you are a collector (police descresion) its fine obvious signs of this is wall mounted and decritive peices, also display peices set out are ok within reason,

on the street max 3 inch nonlockable knife is fine but you should always have a valid reason for carring such an object eg bike, work, fishing etc most obvious of these is your multi tool knife ,leatherman swiss army etc
some people have exemtions for carring knives in public the most of these are chefs and fisherman but must hold a current certificate from the local plod shop

if you a chav with a knife for no good reason on the street your nicked
also the ball and bat is true also taken under police descretion for instance if your nowhere near a park or its pitch black i wouldnt fancy your odds
