HA oh I hope this snow is gone by the time we need to get the bikes serviced. I just realised I may need to get the belts done at the same time, I think whilst that gets done I will get a new clutch hub put on so I have 6 posts again
Pete do you know is Geoff would be able to supply the clutch hub or would I need to order one and give it to him?

I'm sure Jeff would be able to get a hub. We are taking in a complete clutch to ask him to fit whilst it's in.

Didn't your 749 have new belts fitted when you bought it?

I'm going to ring him next week and see what options there are if we can't get the bikes safely over to him.

Pete

Why you need someone else to fit a clutch? Dry clutches are pretty easy to get to

I have no doubt I could easily do the job but I need to either fabricate a clutch holding tool using old clutch plates (I don't have a welder or anything or old clutch plates) or buy a clutch holding tool which is £80.

The ducati had new belts in it, they were installed at 2400miles (i got it at 2457miles) however they were actually done a year before I bought it. Theoretically I could wait until May which will then be the 2 years but thought I should get it done at the same time as it would be cheaper right?

The clutch plates are easy Chris, but I need a new hub, which requires a locking tool as Britters says, some locking compound and a huge torque wrench.

You mean everyone doesn't have spare steels and a welder in shed lol

You can get a cheap welder for like £40, I wouldn't be without one.

Part there you see notched is basket and you don't need locking tool for that

Might as well get everything in synch I suppose Chris, unless you think you might do 6k before the end of the season. The difference between changing them in May or September can't be huge. The belts in ours had done 4 years when Jeff changed them and there were no signs of excessive wear.
