I was trying to keep him anonymous, lol Daimo - he did indeed flip over the barrier, he basically went straight into it. That's what I meant about not much run-off, that's a pretty fast corner so ideally a bit more (even if it is loads better than it used to be ).

I think he's OK but I haven't heard from him in a while!

I don't think it's that much - because it's not that deep, although it stretches quite far along the track...so if you go off at too much of an angle, you're in trouble (i.e. if you go straight on at the corner!). Maybe most people lowside going round the corner and slide off more parallel to the track?

Thats mad though, I mean that gravel trap stop lorries (in the wet too!!!) sitting at 100mph, so how he got over it...??? I can only think the gravel wasn't laid properly, he hit the entrance and bounced over the lot and straight into the barrier. Its quite a deep trap, and i've seen many many MANY cars/bikes/trucks go straight on there, but very few have gone over the barrier.

Thats pretty impressive that one!

Theres not much "run off", its just track/gravel. There is loads at Graham hill, and coming into surtees, otherwise its all gravel.

Ah yeah sorry by run-off I mean gravel...something that's not a wall, basically

I could be remembering Paddock wrongly, I have only been there on my 2 track days, it just didn't seem that deep - FYI it was Venom/Law that bounced over the barrier, rather than the bike - I think the bike hit the barrier and he went flying over it?

It was Paddock, but it's amazing how far you can go through a gravel trap if you're still riding the bike...! The trick is to crash earlier and slide into it!!

Trick is to stay out of them and never find out

I did poop myself one lap, I went in well hot but was suprised to get round.

Another lap I went in deep (dad was behined me) thinking i'd be ok, only for him to come flying past up the inside.

He was just cheesed off cos i'd outbraked him into Druids earlier in the day.

Ok guys which trick is it

I recall he did stay on the bike cos he wasn't sure he'd get round at that speed, on cold tyres, if he leant it. I don't think his brake issue helped him though!

Gary was in the shop a little while ago and also not long after his off. Was glad to see he was ok after what he described!.

Its easy enough to launch a bike over the catch fencing even with a decent gravel trap, main cause is the amount of speed that the initial hit into the gravel which results in some cases in the bike pitching upwards into the air and then barrel rolling. If they end over end they tend to go very high.

Brands IMHO has a decent amount of run off into Paddock, its Paddock out that can be a problem if you loose it exiting the dip and then hit the barrier on the left heading up the hill into Druids. Seen it a few times in races and cant be very nasty.

the new surface though should make for some awesome lap times this season..cant say Clearways has ever bothered me much but it does some. Cant wait until March now!

Don't want to pi$$ on anyone's parade, but do they still use flux oil in the mix? If so it could be quite slippery for a week or two.
