That's because your cat believes that you are absolutely useless at hunting mice (which may well be true), so is kindly bringing you a live one to practice on.

Seriously, that is apparently the reason. They're trying to teach you to hunt.

Cats can't be controlled, they ain't dogs. IF you keep them in a cage(or hut as one of my irritating neighbours do) they howl all summer to be left out, and pace like some demented bored tiger or lion in a zoo! When I leave here I am going to free them, as cats don't belong in huts!

Besides mine do the neighbourhood a favour, they clear it of vermin. Thankfully they prefer rats and mice to birds. I have a bird table in front of my kitchen window, and they prefer just to sit and watch them than eat them

BTW I can't stand neighbours cats who come and crap in my flower beds in the front garden......they daren't do it in the back, my dogs keep em out

People do own such things as house cats though. If I was going to have a cat there'd have to be seriously strict rules if it was going to go outside. Not a fan of cat "hygiene".

As you say Dizz, thankfully yours prefer rats and mice to birds which is ok in my book too. But if any cat of mine started developing a taste for feathers it's be out on its earhole.

Dogs are better pets in that respect. Least we know where they've been...

House cats still get freedom Maria, within their own territory.
Did you ever notice the cats in the hut next door but one? It makes my blood boil.

Yeah, poor buggers. Don't quite get what the owners' idea of the term pet is but I doubt the cats see much of one!

Our two cats, sisters 3 yrs old, have been bringing in ...................

Empty crisp packets for about a year.......just blows your street cred when you tell people you've got two fierce hunters.

I prefer to think of the them as enviromental cats.

Well she used to work in kennels and hand reared pups in there, during the summer months, before having her first son..she has four small terriers too. She used to do a great job and rehomed them all.
She used to have the cats in the house at night, until she had the second child.
There are three cats kept permanently in there, the dogs live in the house.
If she can't have the cats in the house, why on earth she doesn't rehome them I don't know. They are all well fed, and there is lighting in there, plus the door inside is closed so they have an area out and in so to speak, but I think she should have kept with what she knows....dogs!
