Like lozzo says, work is starting to fix things this month but it won't be usable again until the end of august.

Do a ron haslam day at silverstone.

I have looked at this as well G, £279 for half a day, but use their new CBR's.

It is just confidence Phil, there's not a lot wrong with your pace when out riding just in a pair TBH, I have found myself catching you mid corner on occasion but nothing thats ever required the brakes, just a wee throttle off, in terms of what you are capable of you don't have all that much work to do to become a reasonably quick road rider. Then in a group you seem to drop away to the back, but I assumed that's because you're happy enough to bimble. You always ride your own ride and don't try to keep up with anybody which shows maturity in your riding (I know 50 yr olds that become stupid kids on a bike) and deserves respect, not many riders actually do in a group.

The standard SV is capable of being ridden fast, but at time it does require that you put some faith in it, it's a confience inspiring bike until you try and hustle it along then it becomes a b1tch especially at our kind of weight, but TBH I don't think your trying to push it past that point. I'll ride it at the Waterman and see if thre is anything drastically wornd with the preload, and you can have another go on mine now the front forks are behaving better.

Its only just the beginning of May and the roads are only just beginning to clean up in the last few weeks after the winter, get miles under your belt and by August I reckon you'll be a lot happier. You've had a couple of bad experiences and looking at a dirty road is a right confidence knocker. After a winter on the XT with 8 yr old trail tyres, a month or so of tuning issues out of, and getting used to new suspension, and lean angle confidence knocked by going too far and lowsiding the bike last summer, my lean angles and corner speeds are nothing like what they were, but they will come back. It's normal for riders to be a bit short on confidence at this time of year.

Thanks for those words Col, they mean a lot.
I am technically lacking though, i know that, just a bit of professional training would help me im sure.
If i did try and keep up with the others on rideouts i would bin it guaranteed but tbh im happy bimbling along, just always feel gulity about slowing the tecs down and making their ride boring.
