If it is the difference which bothers you just bang the other hand and voila, matching hands!

I tend to get preferential treatment at the local A&E (well it feels like I do), my last bust leg was 45 mins from hopping in to crutches out. Helps that daughter worked their, radiographer was a friend etc.

Fracture clinic is a breeze. Wife works there, I am always first in regardless of what ever time my appointment is.

Busted nose was totally different. I had to go to the ENT clinic and got the do not complain lecture, you have been added to the end of an existing list, there will be delays.

wife comes and sees me whilst I am being good and waiting. Another friend who is staff tells me I must be seeing the principle consultant as he is the only one left. after waiting 3 hours (sign says 2.5 hour delays) a nurse asks me what I am doing in the waiting room. I tell her I have an appointment in ENT, She tells me the clinic has closed and they have all gone home.

Did I check in with reception. The receptionist confirms he had put my 1 page referal note on the pile. It turns out that it must have been picked up with some elses etc. Can I come back tomorrow. The nurse prints out a second copy of my referral, assigns me to her list for 2.00pm and says please be here for 1:50 and I will get you in. I arrive 1:50 jump the 2.00 clinic start and see the consultant who agrees to operate in 2 days time. Out by 1:55.

2 days later I get to hospital, be there nil by mouth for 8. roadworks I get there for 8:10. Sister in laws the ward manager but off that day. they know who I am in advance. 8:20 they are checking my notes when a nurse runs up. Can you get somebody down to theatre by 8:30. The scheduled big job is a no show and they need to maintain theatre occupancy stats. I am shipped down. According to the list I was to have been an afternoon job. right place, right time. nose no longer squashed, just bent.

I love hospitals, they look after me.

PS Can Popeye have his hand back

As the swelling is going down (slowly ) the bruising is coming out. My whole hand I think is going to turn blue.
