test ride them all, and just remember these little points
rear jack up dog bones are cheap enough so if you like the bike for everything else apart from it feeling low its easy to remidy, and the k3 has a higher rear for the thou and 650

Yep. Depends how you ride as you'll know, but commuting I wouldn't expect fuel cons to be much different. Getting on a bit will still see 100miles before flashing.

as for tank range, My K5 GSXR returns about the same to tank as the SV did.

My SV gets to around the 130 mile mark before the flashy light comes on and I've had it to 150 - I've never seen the solid light as I fill up before I get there. I essentially have to fill up one a week so if I can maintain that I'll be happy.

I like the look of the GSXR but I like the idea of getting a newer SV. I guess I might start looking and see whether I can pick up a bargain for either model.

For my budget, what do you think I should expect to get age-wise?

Whats wrong with your current SV that spending some of the £2.5k on wouldn't fix?

Absolutely nothing. My current SV is fine, runs like a dream, starts first time every time, and I do like it. I just want something a bit newer, purely for cosmetic purposes and because I think my SV looks a bit dated.

Maybe keep the curvy and use it for the commute, then buy something completely impractical for the weekend hoon

I only had a quick look at auto trader, but your budget I'd guess based on what I saw, you'll be looking at 1999 / 2000 / 2001 year model GSXR's if you are going down that route and they'll have a reasonable amount of milleage on them to.

I dont know what year model your SV is, but I dont think your budget is enough to get you the "something newer" that you want if you are looking at GSXR's anyway.

You are basically looking at Y, K1, K2 and maybe if you are lucky a K3 year model bike.
