Ahem...

Point of order here.

Cheng Shin are now renamed Maxxis and make some bloody good tyres. I had Maxxis Barracudas on a couple of RDs and a CB250RS and couldn't fault them in all weathers. I've also used the SuperMaxx Radials on a Thunderace and they're fine as sports/touring tyres go.

Point is, I object to the name Cheng Shin being associated with worthless and badly made Chinese crap.

The brake lever thing happened to a guy I race with, only it was just a cheapy pattern part. Almost threw him over the handlebars after one lap.

Hmmm, the more stuff I buy off ebay, the more I am getting pee'd off with it too, I am starting to think it's better just to pay the money and get better stuff.

Wrong parts sent, parts not as described or different to the photos used, cheap parts that don't work or break after 5 minutes, parts that don't fit, 4 weeks for delivery when it says 2 days, fake SD cards from a seller with 100% feedback who then disappears, then getting refunds & replacements can be hellish, and ebay themselves are useless at helping in my experience.

I've got to do a 70 mile round trip to Leicester today to collect parts from a Parcelforce depot if I want to get them at all this week, because they've screwed up the delivery.

Support your local motorcycle dealers, at least then you take the product back in, stick it on the counter, and have someone to eyeball if it's not right.

I dont understand how some people like your self ralph can consistantly have poor experiances with eBay. Then by contrast people like myself have had no trouble at all, plenty of china orders with out incident. In fact the only poor show I've had was when delkevic sent me an in correct item (turned out to be a mix up in dispatch) gave a bloke called Ron a call and he arranged for the correct item to be delivered along with the wrong one collected. So even my bad experiance turned out to be a good one lol.

Saying that my original ebay account got hacked and I had a nightmare getting that resolved because as you say, eBay themselves are completely useless so its not been entierly gravey.

By brother-in-law practically lives on eBay, he has a delivery of something to work (always someone to sign for it that way) about every other day. I don't think he's ever had his fingers burnt too badly. Oh, apart from a red MGF which he and his girlfriend bought about two years ago with no MOT (which they knew about) and then discovered how much it would cost to get it roadworthy (which they hadn't allowed for). It's still sat in the work's carpark lol. Hasn't moved since he bought it!

My experience is mixed. Most of what I've bought has been fine with the exception of some Cat6 cable which turned out to be sub Cat5!

Think it's just a case of the more stuff you buy, and the more specialist that stuff is, the more likely you are to have an issue. I'd got into a bit of a habit of buying stuff there, because work is so busy I can't get out to the shops, and it's PayPal so I don't even have to put in a credit card number. Just 'buy it now, 'commit to buy', 'pay by pal', job done in three clicks and wait for the postman. I'm learning that it's only the buying process that's easy though, and it's only easy right the way through maybe 80% of the time, whereas buying from the shops it's easy 99% of the time.

+1, quite suprised when buying most christmas stuff last year that paypal was commonly accepted. Makes it much easier, too easy though if you know what I mean lol.

As for the maxxis tyres mentioned above, i didn't realise how crap it was until i fitted an avon storm rear yesterday, its much harder to purposely loose traction now.

Another ebay item getting returned tonight. A torque wrench that isn't working properly. Not much surprise since it was delivered already set to 30nm and god knows how long it's been like that. I was tempted to package it back up and send it back immediately, but because of the hassle involved in doing that I thought I test it against my current torque wrench to see if they agree. They do agree, when the new one does decide to talk, but some days it just decides it's not talking and doesn't click, just keeps on tightening way past what you know is correct, then the other torque wrench confirms it's way too tight.

You see in the shop, I'd have opened the box, seen the torque wrench had been left set to 30nm, and stuck it back on the shelf and walked away!
