Mother dearest has owned a 2004 Saab 9-3 aero 2.0T since new and the only thing that's gone wrong is that the rear suspension springs cracked (which is apparently quite common). Otherwise it's been completely reliable and it's quite a nice looking car too I'd probably opt for the Saab over the audi tbh.

Neither, quality on both is suspect, but contrary to popular belief the Saab is actually more reliable (less warranty claims) than the Audi. The Saab just feels flimsy.

The Audi A4 conv scored 212 out of 250 cars in the What Car reliability survey, the Saab came 91st

Overall Saab comes out worse, but Audi is a poor showing too.

If you want reliability, buy Japanese, VAG stuff is good in my experience, but in the main the Germans have the wool pulled over everybody's eyes.
