Oh i get it good shout, mine seemed to have gone in not too bad so far. Freezer, matching socket as a driver and a little tappy tappy.

Spent a good bit of time on the rear shock and linkage today.
Bearings seemed to fit easy enough yesterday but when I came to slip the spacers into the bearings on the linkage and swing arm they are very stiff and they wont turn in the bearings.
I used some polish to slim the spacers down a little and this has helped.

Any thoughts, have I broken the bearings?

Mine were quite stiff to start with but plenty of grease and keep working them they should turn. Unless you have warped them when tapping them in.

Thanks that's reassuring. I'll play some more, not sure if I've damaged them or not but I'll spend some more time on them and see if I can get them moving. Thanks

Sorry. Finding it hard enough to find time for the project and keep fogetting to update... Bad Greensv650

Better late than never!

Items came back from the powder coaters....
Really happy with the result, would never have managed this by myself. Another upside, I was able to get the guys to paint a whole bunch of bits for no extra cash.

Shiny

Engine Mounted in frame, pretty straight forward.

Bearings fitted to swing arm, linkage and steering head races...
The linkage bearings made me cry... a lot

Fitted swing arm and new shock

Re built wheels.

Decided apon fresh oil, new bushes, and better springs, easiest bit so far. Worse bit was, the power coaters painted the steering stem, making it impossible to fit the new bearing. A little nitromors solved the problem and the bearing went on pretty easy. Forgot to take pics at this point but here is the finished result.

Got a bit carried away again!
Front end and rear wheel refitted. Mocked up the loom etc... just to get her started.

After testing the bike would start, I fitted it all together a bit more permanently including a new set of bars.

Rescued the rear sets, powder coating made them a pain to reuse but a little time and some nitromors they seem to have worked out nicely.

Gonna need to swap out the throttle, clutch and choke cables as the original ones are too short.

Then it's time for some fun with wires.......

I wouldn't bother with new fork bushes unless yours are knackered.

Looking good.

Make sure you've got any powder coat out of the footrest hanger brackets as well. I had one bolt so stuck, that I had to cut it off. Made doubly hard as it was in the frame. Ended up getting another one and having that powder coated.

You didn't buy my Renthal bars off Ebay the other day did you? Good home for them if you did.
