It depends on the lie though, after all how many of us are polite in our lying, with such dishonest corkers as "yes, that dress suits you Clive!" or "Of course I can tell that you have lost weight Jayne!" The second one meant a lot to me once, even though I knew that it was a lie it was enough to reassure me that I was doing the right thing.

However finding out that some one I cared for and trusted had broken that trust in a devious and nasty way hurt more than the satisfaction of proving it. Anyway, as I was saying to Elvis only yesterday as we both sat hand in hand watching the tennis on Mars, I never tell lies!

It is kind of linked to my other thread, and the hooker involved. Found some messages on my phone between her and I discussing pregnancy. Bearing in mind they are only from a couple of weeks ago (the time she found out she was pregnant) and say things like:
-No i'm not pregnant
-i asked:what if you had the option of being preg? response:hell no
-i don't wana talk babies, i'm far from ready

Needless to say i forwarded them on to the hooker and the new unlucky daddy to be. Always happy to help cause trouble She has a very short memory when it comes to many things, especially lies. She has even tried lying to the CSA on many occassions only to be proved wrong each and every time

Reminds me of a former colleague.

He was on the phone explaining to a user that the server had failed when his bossed told him to say there was a network error in the building he was based in.

He said to the user. (who just happened to be the general managers PA) "I am sorry, my manager has just told me to lie to you and tell you there is a fault in your building".

Poor sod was dragged into his managers office for a bollocking. I had to intervene. Rule one tell the truth as lies get you caught very quick and then make you look a fool.

I second the "tell the truth" all the time mentality. Women, do not ask me if your **** looks big in something. I will tell you the truth, you lovely fat arsed ladies. Sometimes I may mildly offend people, but in the long term it works out for the best.

i.e. if someone asks me to something I don't want to go to I will say "Sounds rubbish. No". The downside is they are sometimes a bit offended. The upside is, they only invite me to good things in future. Or when a girl asks me how a dress looks and I say "Like a poorly fitting hessian sack", which often causes disappointment, but when the mrs/mother/sister want to know the TRUTH about how they look, I'm the man to ask.

It's just soooo much easier.

My problem with the wife and daughter is the things they don't say or don't want other to know. So not lieing, more economic with the truth.

My mum asks me if I like something when we go out and look at clothes. My reply is usually, I wouldn't wear it, if you want to look like an old grump, buy it.....she gets the huff and sticks whatever it is on the rack. We haven't been out together for a while. I wonder why?

My sons and DJ are brilliant to shop with, they work on the simple principle if I look rubbish in something they are going to have to be seen out with me in it, therefore the just tell the truth. I love them for it, but then I know that NOBODY looks brilliant in everything, and I will just have to find something that does look good.

The truth, I'm all for it. Just be yourself.
However there can always be too much of a good thing.
It should not extend to the point of offending others unless they deserve it.
Be known as a person of your word. But also be known as polite.
I like that dress, yes, you look fabulous dear.

Black and white proof is sweet!
One of the sweetest moments ever. I was involved in helping a local woman who was about to be swindled out of her house by a crooked bank. Had the great opportunity to call out one of the heads of a mega bank.
She, "I never told them that, it's simply not true." (nor was it legal)
Me, "I have a letter here from your office stating exactly that, with your signature on it."
She, ........ (no response)
Owned!
