See it even damaged some airplanes, imagine what it could do to a bike .

I'd have thought hit n run was about as malicious as you can get

I'm not certain on this, but if I were educated I'd guess that this only applied on the public highway and not on private ground. Dunno why i think that and, since there's no evidence to back be up, I'm probably wrong.

Dunno why I typed this.

I think you're right. Petrol stations for instance, being private property had encountered people causing accidents on their land then driving off without any penalty (although I'd assume only when noone was injured). I remember this because I think the law was recently changed to include stations as part of the highway to stop this happening.

UPDATE: A parent rang in today (2 days later) to say it was her. She hadn't realised she had caused so much damage!!!

I'll bet her kid saw me wheeling the bike around the site yesterday trying to get it fixed and told her to own up. Either that or heard how upset I was.

I'm too annoyed to phone her at the moment. Ideas on what I should say?

Calm down, get in touch, be sincere, thank her for calling in to own up... agree that you'll get a quote to have repairs done, send her the bill.

She may then decide to claim on her insurance, which is her perogative, but how/where it is repaired is yours!

Excellent news :P

Double the bill, and give her son/daughter a wacking for good measure...... you are still allowed to do that, right?!

No really, do what BillyC said.

Hi Mate,

Just caught up with this thread.
Sorry to hear your bike went down again, but at least they owned up eventually.
As already said, play it cool, get a quote, take it around in person and when they've paid up TORCH THE CAR

Detention every night for 6months? Make them pay for the use of pen and paper in the detention. £1 a night for 6months should cover it
