Indianapolis - the place where Immigration greet you with the words, "What do you want to come here for?"

That's a true quote!

Oh, I don't think the SV takes very well to being wheelied either
Why specifically do you say this. Is there a specific reason?

Actually, if you ride it all year round and through the bad weather, keeping it in pristine condition is nigh on impossible.
Here in Indianpolis we have strange weather. I've only taking it out once below freezing. I usually only ride when it's 50 degress or higher. I keep it in excellent condition. Constantly cleaning off dirt, salt, lubing the chain etc.

Other than the suspension (that can easily be fixed) what makes the SV650 a crap bike for stunts in comparison to a GSXR or R1 (other than the obvious power differences). Why would a wheelie be unthinkable on a SV650s but not on a GSXR?

He says it's a budget bike because it's a cheap bike. It's meant to be in that class. This means that the whole thing is built on a tight budget.

The suspension is easily fixed by putting harder springs and new oil in. Unless you're very light the bike will almost certainly be undersprung.

If you neglect it, it goes rusty and crappy quite easily. It's a cheap bike and the finish isn't great. That said, like BigApe suggested, if you ride it all the time it's pretty much impossible to keep it perfect.

The not taking well to wheelies I'm not so sure about.
The headrace bearings certainly aren't keen on hard landings and I've heard that wheelies put more stress on the rear axle but I wouldn't say the SV has more problems in that regard than any other bike.

Cool that's what I was looking for. Cheap suspension and poor finish. I can deal with that. I'll just get the suspension upgraded and once the paint turns to crap get a new paint job. Anything else?

I don't ride it in the rain and I keep it in a heated garrage with a cover. I polish it once a month and in the summer once a week.

I've been riding it at least three times a month

is that all ? over here i ride my bike no matter what the weather, snow, sub zero conditions and our poor excuses of a summer.

you have weather of above 50 and you ride it 3 times a month . . .are you mad

when you wheelie, it puts alot of stress on the bike.
it puts alot of stress on any bike.

just if you thrash a bike about a bit - you are really sacrificing some of its life (any bike is the same)

No it's not 50 every day. In the winter it might get above 50 three times a month. The weather is very sporadic. One day a month it might get up to 70 the next day the high will be 30. It just depends. I would never ride my bike in the snow or ice.

Default if...

if camhops has put 4000 miles on his bike in four months, and as he says, rides it at least three times a month, does that mean each suspension crunching, sump emptying stunt session is 333 miles long?
some mistake surely....
ever wonder why so many stunt riders ride Buells? Dry sump. Doing wheelies can rob the engine of oil dude..
am I just saying that 'cos I can't do wheelies? yes and no, I just can't bring myself to do it on my motorbike even tho I can hoist a bmx front wheel all around the garden! I think its becauseI want to live you see...

be a bit more careful matey its dangerous out there on the road!
