If you don't like the R&G's then before the insurance came alone I had these on my SV:
GSG Moko
I've tested mine on both sides with spills upto 40 mph and the seem to work just fine, even with minimal damage to the mushroom. If not for them I would have had a much more damaged bike sliding down a hill in france and never got home. I have R&G's now (the old ones) but that due to the insurance company, not my choice.

That's the problem with bungs, an indestructible set would be more dangerous to your bike than a really weak set. The manufacturers have to trike a perfect balance between strength and sacrificial protecion and it just seems like R&G didn't quite nail it. Add into that the ones you hear about with the manufacturing flaws that cause the metal cups to break and confidence is not inspired. They're not as good as they should be, basically.

But then again, think of the number of people who've crashed on R&Gs on this forum and been perfectly happy. I've done it twice Jimmy's done it twice on the same bung, all he does is cut the end off and repaint it, and his are still holding up well too. Scooby Drew had one huge save and one total failure... Personally I reckon that a big part of the reason you hear about more R&G failures than anyone else is that there's more R&Gs on forum member's bikes than any other. I'd have left mine on quite happily until the new ones came out.

I thought about the GSG Moko's for my Sprint RS. They look good and need no fairing cutting. However, they cost £100

I have ordered some Skykings direct from the states at a cost of £65 delivered, cheap due to the really good exchange rate at the moment.

Unfortunately they don't make them for SV's. They do make interesting bodywork for early naked bikes.
