I use TomTom Mobile with a Nokia 7610. I use an earpiece with the phone in my jacket pocket and the GPS adapter in my rucksack. Although I can't see the instructions while moving, a tank bag would solve this, I find the voice guidance is fine and it does allow you to view the route as a demo before you actually do it, which I think is really good. The only thing I don't like is my phone's battery doesn't last long when using it.

The TomTom Rider, supposed to be released this month, is waterproof and sounds really good but I think Cloggsy's price is a little optimistic as most sites taking pre-orders are asking for about £580-£600 , which is a lot of money compared to other GPS systems and I would rather spend the extra money on the bike.

Finally got round to taking a couple of photo's.

Here's the ball mount that shutdown mentioned

and here's my PDA fixed to it

the GPS receiver can be seen in the second photo between the double bubble and the clocks.

The PDA is an iPAQ 2210 with TomTom Navigator running on it (along with the speed camera database)

I used my XDA2 with TomTom 5 all the way to portugal. Unfortunatly the maps of france, spain & portugal seem to be a bit outdated and many roundabouts are not shown and sometimes it says second exit on roundabout, but it has now become the third.

I had it in my tankbag so i could see it if i wanted, but also had it connected to my bike headset and 12v.

One problem seems to be that the XDA2 does not like getting very hot, it then turns itself off till it cools down.

When I'm riding around Europe somewhere where the road signs are in a different language I use a OS map and a Garmin GPS12XL, Old but reliable..

Don't use one, your eyes should be on the road not on a GPS system. A mate of mine has one on his BMW and was saying how good it was until he hit the armco barrier on a tight bend in Spain. They are ok in a car but for a bike, stop and look at your map!

I agree with you............but if you look at my photo you will see a lead from the PDA headphone socket, that fixes to my helmet so I get the verbal instructions of where to turn etc, but also of where static and mobile speed camera's are
