Think us Brits need to relax a bit, there shouldn't be any problem with breast feeding in public and I'm sure this wouldn't even have been an issue in another European country.

Agreed that the mother needs to be a little discrete when feeding, but surely a park is a more discrete place to breast feed than the middle of a restaurant?

Jase...If you think the Brits need to chill out...the reaction she would have got in little town U.S.A. would probably have been way worse. Ignore what Hollywood projects(pun! ) America is extremely square on so many basic issues.

Well said. I don't see anything wrong with it. I think that pigs are well out of order giving her a warning and that she should raise a complaint with who ever you complain to about the police.

Bloody jobs worth coppers.

Let's be fair to the copper, even the woman involved says that he was very polite. She hasn't made a formal complaint about him/her, either.

You're all getting up in arms, but she wasn't cautioned, or apparently even warned, she was just asked if maybe she could be more discrete.

I'm personally of the view that it's not an issue for breasts to be out in public. Maybe I just like looking at breasts, but then, a child clamped on tends to ruin that particular pleasure.

Everybody should just chill out. As far as I know, women going topless isn't illegal in this country, so the worst that usually happens is old biddies complain and an embarassed cop asking politely if somebody would be more discrete.
If one day a cop takes it too far, then a formal complaint should and probably will be made.
