As far as I'm concerned the service book is a waste of paper and money, not worth it, and I could have saved myself a load of hassle and money by DIY.
A brand new K4 bike, I missed 1 service interval, it run dry of oil, engine BANG! Suzuki;s reply - GO F YSELF!

Recently found out that my original engine had about 1 litre of oil in it But Suzuki didn't want to know as I had missed a service interval ...

I'm still not ****ed at biking ....honest judge

We could have told you that. In fact, I'm fairly sure we did tell you that, especially considering the miles you were putting on the poor thing.
You only recently overtook me in miles and I haven't had a dealer service done for 19k.

I'm not in the slightest bit surprised, that's the point of the service interval. Besides, oil should be checked between services, even if you have them all done by the dealer.

I'm in Limerick. Bought the bike from Meskells.

Any help on the warranty thing? Are the services covered under warranty? Bike only 6ish months old.

Yup suzuki arent stupid!. Sorry to be blunt but if you ran it low on oil why on earth do you expect them to pay for it?. They know SV650's dont just go pop and on a strip down its fairly easy to tell if a bike has been run low on oil or not.

If your not mechanically minded then dont do it yourself!. I have seen a few too many SV's lately with stripped sump plugs, overfiled with oil etc now i wonder why??..

The only service covered is the 600 mile service on a brand new bike, even then you still pay for oil etc, after that you either pay or DIY.

Not if you bought from a decent manufacturer! I had the ECM go on my Blackbird, and even though the bike was 5years old and way past the warranty period, with all servicing done by myself, Honda UK replaced the ECM and loom FOC as a goodwill gesture.

Suzuki UK do appear to be total and utter *****! I hope they realise that the way they treat their customers WILL come back and bite them on the ass!

Thanks guys for all the valuable feedback.

Am going with the majority (everybody I think) and doin if meself.

Bought the service kit with oil, sump plug seal, oil filter, engine flush and spark plugs (although a wee bit early for the plugs but changing anyway).

Will give me somethin to do over the holidays.

Once again, thanks for the advice.

Cheers

marky, if you dont want to Diy then bring it to meskells...only shop in limerick/ennis area i'd trust with anything more than teeth sucking whilst looking up a cows ****.

IIRC 6k is just oil, filter, air filter and plugs?
Nothing major there....also take the slack out of the throttle cables, and the clutch, check the brake pads, and if you have the time and inclination, take out the pad pins and check for corrosion/clean them up etc.

Go over the bike and check all bolts for tightness....one of my engine bolts had come loose at 6k...and then again at 12 or 14k.

the rhs peg bolt had come loose also, so go over everything.

Lots of sv's about limerick...check out www.irishbikerforum.com or www.biker.ie to find out.
