True, but the brake problems with the new Triple have been pretty ridiculous... A recall that didn't fix the problem too. Considering that none of the parts on teh Triple are unique to the model, it's doubly dubious.

Still, wouldn't put me off for a second.

The Rocket III costs £12k new.

That is a lot of dough for a steam roller.

U could buy a house in a really awful part of town in an awful town for that.

Not my cup of tea and I would choke on the tea at that price.

Buy a nice Honda Shadow VT125c and still have change for a GSX-R1000.

Being eminently biased (and I'll get that out of the way first), I went from a 3 month old TLS in 97 to my first T509, fell in love with the power, presents, style and fact I could own a British bike and not have to compromise what I used it for.

Never really felt confident with the T3's and the styling was a bit dated even when new (although the original 900 speedtriple looked like it'd tear your throat out if you walked to near it, remember the add, Rockviller (? spelling) chained to a bollard next to the speedtriple also chained up, all in black ). but the First T5's had it all, it's planted, real world suspension adjustment, awesome brakes, bags of power, and that unquantifiable "road presents".

It's also built for this country, so the bolts don't fur up, spares? Well it's a bit of a gamble like most bikes 1/4" o ring for fuel hose £2.40 , head gasket £34 , no better or worse than most.

I'm now on my fifth Hinckley Triumph (2 x T509/ 1 x T595/ 1 x Daytona 955i & current 955i speedtriple) and they've all done over 100k without major issue.

Would I get another? Well I've tried the new speedtriple and ST back to back, and I'd have to say the 1050 lump is a good engine and works well with the ST (although it's not my thing) but it's a little to cultured for the speedtriple ( sort of gives the impression of a raw, mean bike, but doesn't feel like it).

No given my time of life, I'd probably go for a Thunderbird sport or a Thruxton next time round, but then again I'm a tad fickle when it comes down to parting with my cash.

Cheers Mark.

The Rocket is a monster of a machine which is definitely about presence and raw power. It will I am sure have a pretty good level of popularity with the cruiser types. I can tell you it handles, as a pal of mine test road one and was touching pegs at good speed on it! If you could afford the rubber bills, that must be an ace traffic light weapon!

The same guy was telling me the other day that he has also just test ridden a new R6,(he was actually THE first person to own an R1 in Spain) Jose mentioned that the R6 is extremely light and flickable with loads of power. However he is only about 5' 7" and found the bike to be very uncomfortable? I read in that it is extremely focused therefore if you are considering buying one be very carefull.

I am very happy that a major British engineering concern is doing so well and giving employment to so many skilled workers in the area.

The motorcycles are exported around the world and continue to grow.

Rule Brittania..God save the Queen.

Yep, the idea of a 675 based speed triple definately appeals to me.
