I hit a ped a few weeks ago getting to the Soho meet, first for me. I was filtering though some green lights at a ped crossing (should have clicked then!), between a bus and a van. A group of girls appeared from the bus and walked into the bike, heard a scream and my bike rev as she got caught on the clutch. Nothing major though as I think she was scared more, lesson learnt by me though.

Some guy ran into the side of me a while back, while I was rounding a corner... No matter how good your observation, some people cross the road like they're trying to get hit. I don't have a lot of time for "loud pipes save lives", but they can definately help avoid ped hits I think. Nothing will stop it completely though.

My favorite was the woman with the pushchair who walked up to the kerb- so the pushchair with a wee kid in was right in the road. I didn't quite miss it, but managed to just barely clip it so it was OK, nearly rode into a taxi coming the other way after my crazy evasion though- but if she'd been a split second later or I'd been a few mph faster I'd have been right into the side of it, with no possible way of avoiding it.

If they're lemmings, could we press the button that makes one stand with his arms out and stop the other ones?

when I was sixteen a pedestrian ran out on me when I was on my push bike, I went flying, she picked herself up, said sorry, and carried on running, I was wrecked, my knees were a mess.
I have badly scarred knees, and they constantly play me up. Cow.

Nutty x
