Meant to say, light and visibility! Nothing quite like breaking down on a dark country road, with nowhere to stop but in the traffic... I carry one of those tiny Maglites in each of my jackets, and a middle sized one under the seat, along with a rather rubbish hi-viz vest (my godo one lives in my rucksack), and a couple of snaplites.
The snaplites are great... They give just about enough work to do simple repairs or fixes, but if visibility's a problem you can also chuck them into the road as a warning. The usual disclaimer about hi-viz... A yellow vest with some shiny plastic stuck to it isn't hi-viz. Don't waste money or time on the utter crap peddled to bikers in dealerships, get the real thing- it's massively better, and usually cheaper.

you can get mini-compressors for tyre inflation, like this for example
http://www.nippynormans.com/prodinfo...em=27&mitem=29 I'm sure I've seen cheaper versions somewhere. Only really a proposition for serious touring probably. I bought a cheap Argos compressor (£12-99) and took the business bits out of the casing. I carry it when touring abroad. A little awkward to use with no casing but it works well and it doesn't run out like CO2 bottles. |

My Gerber LED torch, the size of a AA battery. 25 hours on one AA.
![]() I have one of these on my bike keys, must remember to buy a new Li cell. ![]() |

A slimline can of WD40 or similar. I saw one these at Aldi a few weeks ago. Should have bought it when I saw it. Never seen one again since.
