They might be.
I heard that one as well. I also heard that it is not nessesary to have the tail light actually working with the brakes. If it is on all the time, its ok. Only if it is working with the brakes intermitantly, it's a problem.

That might have been changed in Ireland at this point though. It seems bizarre to me. Probably a leftover thing from early motor vehicles law etc.

If you have an inidcator switch and no inidcators then you're nicked, if you remove the switch and the indicators then you are ok.

Not so sure on the brake light issue, I know I wouldn't like not to have them!

thanks for all the input peeps, not been online to respond till now.Where do i start?

Yes i'm a liability and if i'd been in Iraq at the time the yanks first went in they'd probably have touted me in front of all the TV cameras as proof that they had indeed found some WMD.

Cops dont like me and the feeling is mainly mutual.

He was being as aggresive as can be, not polite and giving "advice" of any kind. His words were. "Take you helmet off, now sit on you bike with your full weight, put the side stand up, (and using his en to oush the chian up) this is disgracfuly loose-look it nearly touches your swingarm at points. I'm inpounding your bike cos it dangerous. Now get off it."

I did mention that i had a mobile tyre fitter come out to replace the rear a week ago and tho i aksed him to corret adjust the chian, and checked he had, there is a possibiltiy he didnt torque the bolts enough and its become slack again as i did over 200 iles of rideouts over the weekend.
His response was that none of that makes a diffrence to him and that i was probably speeding too but they didnt have the radar pointed at me.

I attempted to explain why i blipped the throttle that made them look at me but he wasnt interested. Guess he's just one of those unfriendly "give me a uniform and i'll bring my own bad attitude to the party" type of guys.

Really glad he let me go tho and amazed that he didnt just go for the obvious things. My black visor for a start is pretty in your face, so is the can without its baffle and the plate is only an 8x5. If hed done me for any of those things i'd take it cos i know i'm taking a risk on those, but a bady adjusted chain was a very new one on me.

Just making sure i dont go thru regents park at all this week cos i'm sure if he sees me again and is less busy i wont get away so easy.

yeh but looking the way i do and being so close the the american ambassadors residence in the aprk at the time assured plenty of armed cops were around. And if i'd made any sudden moves i'd expect to hear the crakle of an MP5 very shortly afterward, followed by a dull thudding felling in my chest and head.
After all they are happy to execute a nice Brazillian bioy who had nothing more than a free newspaper in his hands. Image me pulling out metal items from under my seat and pointing them at a cop

Imagine, if you had a scottish accent it'd be even worse, apparently that's sufficient justification to presume someone's in the IRA. One of them Al Queada Republicans, I reckon.
