Throw it away and get a new one...this weekend!

You have NO IDEA if it's been dropped, crushed or anything.

What is the helmet? Arai, Shoei?

It was maybe a bit silly not to check the fastner if you have strong opinions about a particular type (for instance, I would never ever own a seat-belt one) but throw it away? If it came from a dealer I would have thought it would be ok.

Yes but you don't know its history, it could have been dropped or anything. Again dont take chances with your head. How much value do you put on your life.

It might be a £400 lid but if it doesnt fit properly or has been damaged it isnt going to protect your head in the event of an accident.

Arai's I believe can be sent back to Arai for inspection to check whether the helmet is OK... might be worth doing.

Does it fit your head properly ?

Am I being silly in assuming it wasn't checked in the shop? I would have thought that if you buy a bike and a lid from a dealer you would have tried the lid on first and not worry about where it had been.

Mmm. Urban myth, scare story not sure, I imagine that putting D rings on would be cheaper for the manufacturer.

Anyway Hovi5 glad you've come around I didn't realise that you were planning a conversion, though it was for something else.

Did you get the bike and lid from a dealer? Did you try the lid on at the dealers?

Ok, it doesn't fit you, it was £400 maybe...(when new), it's been used before (I take it) and you have no idea if it's been dropped.

Recipe for disaster fella.

Listen to the boys and girls here that know a bit.
