I remember my DAS instructor yelling at me,

"I'll cut your F******G hand of if you dont leave the front brake alone"

I got the impression that its not the done thing during a U turn.

Hope your over the worst now, but I susspect getting out of bed in the morning is going to be horrid!

Real sorry to hear this mate.
I take it by now you have been checked out & I hope it will heal as good as new.
Probably a good idea (if you're in a position to) to get a perfect repair on you're new bike so it doesn't upset you every time you see it - then it's just a financial cost, plus the pain. And I'm sure you'll remember and have learned your lesson.
