i removed hot grip & fitted it to a old pair of renthals off a trials bike............OUCH...... much hotness, with no gloves on i could only hold it for 10 seconds?

i have 99 T plate CURVY.................. what do i do now ( dont say get a pointy)

Yes, the SVS has alli clipons which transfer heat quickly, making the grips job harder … but the fact is that ali clipons are quite common and to make a set of grips that can’t cope with that is poooooor show if you ask me!!

Also the grips are mounted on a hard plastic inner, which should offer some insulation … its not like the heater elements are directly on/exposed to the bar …

yes i know BUT........WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS ..if anything? do oxford know about this, have they done anything.......or dont they care?

& im guessing that everyone who says that there hotgrips are great dont have alli clip-ons?

Oh and talking of insulation ... bearing in mind the twistgrip is plastic and there is a slight air gap where it has to rotate, explain to me why the throttle side is still so poor

Not sure about the metal in a pointy clipon, but mine were always great. So great that most of the time I never bothered using them!

Either change your hotgrips for the later ones, or change your bars/clipon's.

Oxford do know, that's why they changed the design.

i thought i did have the later ones? as i have the LED control panel, but the cable on the grip says 1997?

Did they??? the only design change I heard about was one to stop them catching fire ...

I bought mine last winter BTW, so say 2yrs old including 1yr potentially on the shelf?? ...

I have no idea, but I remember the mention of the metal compound issue when I bought my grips, that was after a fair amount of digging around.

I'll see if I can find the info again.
