all done !!

however-

I didnt disconnect the battery when I was doin the fuses- oops..

OK. green 30 amp one replaced..had deffo gone- (what blew it!) ..

then when I came back in I went on datatool site and saw theres an inline fuse in that system (of course! but I am an electrical thicko) ..

so I opened that and yea that had gone too.. I had got some red fuses when I got the green ones- being organised.. but ha! I got the bigger size so theres £2 wasted !.. luckily theres a spare red one in the black fuse box.. so used that .. as soon as I put it in .. alarm went off and my key fob could turn it off. !

oo lookkin good.

key in- start and vrooomm.. starts up..no problems..

however.. indicators on left side didnt work.. left it running.. checked lights .. and right indis.. high and low beam indis with lights on .. and with brake light on- still running no probs nothing shorted..

then tried after 5 mins the left indis hadnt touched a thing. and they work !!..

so..

what blew the main 30 green fuse and the alarm inline one??..

as I said earlier the anti tamper little fiddly white box thing has fell apart.. and the spring and silver thing have fell out.. so I unscrewed it and taped it up and tucked it away .. is that OK.. has it noe sorta bypassed it?.. plus- could it be that anti tamper playing up that has blown the fuse in the alarm system and the 30 green one (is it 30amp?) ..

dont wanna ride along and it all go out again..

I ran it with indis on and fidlled at the back moving wires and waggling the indis and they still worked.. so I dunno.

but soemthing blew it.. and I changed nowt except that anti tamper- so cold it happen again

nb- the wire from the light that used to feed the numberplate light I used for 2 LED's... that wouldnt be it would it- i read on here it wud be OK.

I am flummoxed.. but its running..

so any ideas>? u guys who know amps and volts and alarms etc,, fo ir to blow the 10 inline fuse on the alarm and the main 30 one.. is it summat major>?

I have just done the undertray and was advised to use grommets etc so the wires dont chaf.. and tgh the bike hasnt moved in a week.. so since the new wires have been done it aint been ridden or shocked.

sorry for the waffle explanation.

mefinks it must have pete- cos even when the battery is off its screamin like a banshee!!..

I think it is the immobliser- well was..

and TSM u are correct- again!.. fuse blew in the alarm.. but also in the main 30 green fuse...

so - ita all working now.

but I wanna know why it blew those fuses if it works now???

I suspect the most likely cause is bare wire exposed on the loom around the rear subframe, did you disturb the wires in that area, if so maybe one of thems touched the frame and caused a short and blown the fuse.

Oh and Quiff, I always put the data tool on my SV into service mode before I disconnect the battery, it'll chirp to itself every 30 seconds, but it doesnt chuck a wobbler when the batteries disconnected that way.

If your trembler switch has fallen to pieces that may have caused the original short and sometimes when you remove and reconnect the battery with a fault in the system it causes a power spike which blows fuses. In your alarm manual it should give you the sequence to leave the immobiliser on but do away with the trembler. Sorry if this is no help after the horse has bolted so to speak but just read your post

hmm I just read that inmy little handbook.. didnt know that- theres so many ways u can press that dam button.

THAT is why when I go in DK all the bikes are chirpin away ..

you guys are brill.. I am gonna be owin soo much beer out. ,,

well it does work .. I will at some point double check all the wires at the back end and tape up where needed. can thave chaffed on the holes of new undertray I aint ridden it.!

no mate - ace its all good..
I will re read my manual ..

I have e mailed datatool to see if I can get a new anti tamper trembler swith- but its a pain in the rear- I always knock it when I am fiddling.
HOWEVER- now fizz has told me the above.. re service mode..

gosh i have learnt a lot today - u know I didnt even know there was a big main fuse.

I seriosly hope it is that trembler falling to bits tha thas done what you said and caused a spike...

I do need to get some small 10 red fuses though-
rushed in halfords and got the green 30one and 15 and 10 as spares but got the big ones too.. wot a numpty !

oh when I was fiddling with the undertray I knocked the LED for the alarm thats in the back light and it boke off.. that wouldnt do it would it?..

plus can I get a new red Led for it..

hey in fact- I think I jsut leftthat wire for that led.. didnt tape the ed.. s it could be floating around cos I wanted to ask u lot if I could get new led for it..

that could be it.. or the trembler thing.. if that led wire touched another or metal would that blow the alarm and the main fuse.

sorry to be so stupid.. ..

i entertain people for a living I dont do their electrics!- each to their own eh

The best thing you can do is remove the alarm and chuck it in the bin!! There more trouble than there worth. Personally you would be better off Data tagging your bike! Thats my opinion anyway
