That's assuming that you have the resources to remove the wheel from the bike and take the wheel to get a new tyre fitted.

My biggest concern about that tyre is the horizontal splits it has.

Just as a matter of interest, my last rear Z6 had those splits in, and I was loosing around 10psi every 45mins. Not good to ride on (but yes, I did, carefully).

EMERGENCY USE ONLY: Holts Tyre Weld, £8.99 for a large can from Halfords. Blinking marvellous stuff. Deflate tyre to use it, and got my tyre to 40psi with just the air in the can!! Sealed my leaks up nicely.

After putting Tyre Weld in, I then rode it in a straight line to the nearest tyre place & spent just over £100

I would suggest that the splits in the rubber shouldn't cause the tyre to loose that pressure and you may have had a leak from something else, or one of the splits may have been deeper than the outer rubber.

The tyre weld stuff is generally a messy way to sort a problem but for the issue you had I see why you used it, a better option can be to use water and fairy liquid to check where the air is leaking from.

Either way, tyre's well goosed as agreed above, best of luck finding a replacement at a decent price.

How many miles?

We struggled to get more than 3,000.................which is partly why we have just switched to PR2's.

I thought tyres were like underpants and you could just turn it inside out and use it again........

When I got the bike, it had just a smidge over 9200 miles on it and it is now just shy of 15,000, so shouldnt complain really. Bearing in mind I ride on my own quite a lot and dont weigh a lot so that might be in my favour ?? :S

Just delaminating because there's practically no rubber left on the carcass, perfectly normal... It's not got plentry of tread left at all, it's probably illegal and has been for a while. Certainly past replacement... But, seeing that and deciding to replace your tyre is like knowing you have to go to the toilet because your feet get wet

Next time, get a Diablo Strada not a Diablo IMO, that's a much better distance tyre... And looking at the amount of tread left on the sides, it won't hold you back- you can seriously crack on on modern sports touring tyres.

I agree, most people don't realise you can do this sort of thing on sports/touring tyres

I've fitted Pilot Road 2s to my Daytona because I've never had any trouble with good quality sports/touring tyres sliding or lacking grip. In my opinion, tales about tyres being crap and lacking grip are only told by bloody good racers, the hamfisted who can't ride, or bar-room heroes who want to look flash - I believe the former, and laugh at the latter two. Average riders like myself don't notice the difference.

That tread pattern does look like Strada to me.
I reckon first owner got about 7000 from original D220's so that's approx 7-8000 on your current tyres. Fair result.

Maybe it is, I thought it was just really bald But that'd make sense, since most of the tyres I've seen rip up like that have been on the Strada/Roadtec carcass (check out the used tyre bin at a bike shop, they all look like that ) Low miles for a Starda though?
