don't 50% of the bikes value deem it an uneconomical repair?

Uneconomical for repair, by definition, should mean that i would cost more to repair, than it would to replace.

As the repair estimate is less than replacing it, then its not really surprising the insurance company is going for the cheaper option. Remember folks, its all about the £'s.

The only thing I would be careful of is, as the bike was so new, and carefully cared for by you, you want to make sure that there are NO scratches to the frame or engine cases which the assessor may have thought weren't caused by the accident. I.e. you dont want to get the bike back with a new front end, tank etc, only to find that they didnt replace the engine covers because they assumed that the damage was present before the accident.

You have probably thought of that, and I hope you are on the mend...

BB.
That's why I wanted it to go back to the dealer where I bought the bike, they're really helpful and have a good reputation. They showed me a list of all the parts they were quoting for before the estimate was sent to the insurer and basically said that they'd taken into account all damage that they found so it should hopefully come back as good as new...finger's crossed lol
