I think the point of Mr Pete's original post was to find out if there are any defects he should look out for when buying a second hand sv, am I correct?

I am not the particular authority on this, but I would like to tell you that if you test ride it, they do all go "knock" when you hit a pothole or bump with the front. The fender extender is actually to combat a front cylinder sparkplug issue where the front cylinder has been known to stop firing if too much moisture gets into it. I personally hace only had that problem once after a torrential downpour, and the fender extender and/or grease around the plug sorts it out anyway. I don't think there are any know major issues with the bike, just some of the bolts are a little cheesy, and the seat is a little uncomfortable. It seems like a good bike for what you are intending, and the engines are fantastic, I reckon you will be pleasantly surprised by the torque at low revs compared to your CBR when commuting.

Good luck!

Yeah, just watch out for gaylord in his flourescant jacket

Plowsie you're a tart m8

And Pete (1987 one, not vtwin or me), warthog speaks a lotta sense there (from what I've read about the SV - which is as much as I could before parting with my reddies).

Right, I had a look at the bike.

There is a small (5p coin size) amount of bubbling on the paint on the engine casing, easily sorted i do believe. Another small bit of wear on the paint on the grab handle.

It had a bit of a flat battery, but should be easily recovered i think. Other than that its tidy, it has got signs of use from the lack of a belly pan and fender extender, but they are bits I would be looking to sort as it is.

I took it for a test ride and was quite suprised at how easily it pulled, i only took it round the block as it was getting dark, but in 6th gear at 30mph it still had some grunt, the gears went in fine, although i had a slight problem getting it in neutral, the guy who owns it got it in easily so it may just be me.

It had a full set of Oxford Humback luggage, a meta alarm, and alphadotted. Full suzuki service history, MOT til end of april 08 and tax due in may 08. It had its 7500 service aswell.

No corrosion on the forks etc, I am going to make an offer when I get home from work.

It is an awsome bike, unfortunately i'll have to restrict it if i use it now, whats the easist way of doing this?

Pete

The guy is after £2600, i'm going to try my luck with £2400 as one in town sold for £2200 but had slightly higher mileage, but I think he might go for £2500. He is after a quick sale so if i can offer that then all should be good.

Fingers crossed

Why not start a bit lower? you can always go up, but not back down!!
Especially as it is getting to the worst time to sell a bike - he might have to be prepared to move a bit on price. There are a lot of bikes for sale at the mo - if he wants a quick sale, you have the upper hand...

You will need a restricted ECU. They come up from time to time in the For Sale section and on Ebay. MUCH cheaper than getting one off Suzuki.
