well done Mr Ape man. I called the police one night as there was someone breaking into the flats behind me. He was being so loud he woke me up, thought someone was at the raptor again. phoned the police 2 police vans and 3 police cars pulled up. they came to my door to get me to confirm where the breakin was taking place. turns out it was a drunk guy who had forgotten his key and was breaking into his own house. lol

now would you crash into a drunk driver (you knew 100%) to cause them to stop and call the police to get them nicked?? I would.

So far we have been too court once with the result of the youth being tagged. He was the worst offending person on the estate and it really is a lot quieter now. We also feared the backlash but decided we didn't want to live on estate where it turned into a lawless place after dark.

With careful wording and the threat of using video evidence (which we don't have) we have also managed to get all the speeding chavs to slow down round the estate. This worried me the most as they used to really put the accelerator down going round the bend directly outside my house. It would seem they were banned from the local Tesco store and used the estate instead.

We are also seen quite often with the local police who come round for a brew anytime they find themselves on the estate for whatever reason. It is quite possible that they know it was us that called the police this time. But I am not prepared to live with what goes on round here any longer.
sounds like a quality place to live, please can you send me a link to the local estate agent, i would love to move there

Nice one BigA, you are a brave man but hopefully people on the estate will start supporting you more visually as time goes on.

You'd hope wouldn't you. But for everyone else it's a case of "so long as it's them getting the bother and not us"

It hard to blame people for keeping their heads down when nobody is making a stand but when somepne like you sticks their head above the parapet then you hope it would inspire others to at least show some support. Unfortunately its not surprising they don't. Hope things get better for you.

Si - you never know it might be that there are other people on the estate that think like you and Jo. They are too scared perhaps to say anything themselves but are glad someone else is. In time maybe they too will be able to stand up and say something.

In my experience the majority of people are generally decent and good; the bad ones are in the minority but make the most noise so everyone thinks they are the majority. If enough of the good ones make themselves heard then things can start to change
