Ah bugger.

I used to panic if going over man covers in the wet. But I have since learnt, that although the wheels my slide somewhat, it is only for an instant before traction in regained and it may have put me off line by a couple of feet. So now I go over them and just expect the little slide and react straight afterwards to get back on line.

They are more dangerous when you go over them in a straight line on the brakes. Almost guaranteed to come off. I don't have any pointy bits to give you as I have taste. But hope you get it all sorted soon. I'm sure a man such as yourself will have that bike back on the road in a flash. Best of luck.

Thanks Si, it's down to the insurance company and my newly upgraded comp insurance - there's too much damage for me to consider doing it myself (approx 1700 quid) and the loss of excess and NCB won't really affect me at my age, as my premiums are so cheap anyway (?235 comp for all 7 bikes, inc 3 modified ones).

Fair doo's. Bugger all the same. That's one of those "Argh crappola" type accidents.

No, I lose two year's worth, taking me down to 2 year's NCB. I have 7 year's NCB but they only count 4 as being maximum. It won't go up by much, even if it doubles it's still cheap for the amount of bikes I own.

Lucky bugger :P

You'd think that if you hadn't claimed in 7 years they'd put it down to 5 years NCB. But, they'd make less money that way..

The way I look at it is, it only takes 4 years for a newbie to reach full NCB, and I'm only losing 2 year's worth. It's a fair trade for them rebuilding my wrecked bike, and it's not like I'm a habitual crasher who claims every year - I'm allowed one every now and then.

I guess when you have it cheap enough you don't mind losing a bit of NCB.
I don't have any yet, and I don't plan on not having any next time i go to insure!
